Wide shot of protestors chanting STORYLINE: The arrest of a leading opposition politician last week caused outrage in Mongolia’s capital Ulan Bator and fresh calls for the resignation of the country’s justice minister. Gundalai (one name), the deputy head of Mongolia’s Democratic Party, was arrested in a violent scuffle on July 24th at his party headquarters. Footage of the arrest showed that Gundalai was first prevented from boarding a flight to Singapore where he was due to attend a regional conference on democracy. A scuffle ensued but Gundalai managed to break free. Plainclothes police then followed Gundalai to his party headquarters where a successful arrest was made. About a thousand protestors attended a rally to press for his release, the day after the incident. scandal.
